ABOUT south Africa

jb-ct 2 If you’re looking for a bike tourer’s paradise, then look no further. The riding in South Africa is blissfully diverse and always interesting, with generous speed limits – on most major roads 120kph (75mph) on lesser routes 100kph (60mph) and in towns 60kph (35mph). Vehicles drive on the left and the general standard of driving is high… and polite. Read more...

Lesotho Tour – Riding on the Roof of Africa

Our journey to the 'Roof of Africa' commences at Mossel Bay in South Africa's Western Cape, before heading inland and upwards toward the moutain kingdom of Lesotho. In the world's highest country (on average), epic roads and scenery await in what is as close to a riders' paradise as we have seen anywhere. Lesotho offers mile-upon-mile of non-stop cornering action on tarmac of the highest quality, carrying very little traffic. The dirt road riding is equally impressive, without being too technical or strenous for the average experienced rider. This is a real rider's tour, featuring full days of stunning riding through incedibly diverse landscapes.

The Cape Classic – Garden Route, Cape Town & Route 62

This tour is far more of a holiday than an 'adventure', with plenty of time to savour the views and smell the penguins, as we take in all the great sights of South Africa's Western Cape at a relaxed pace. From the glories of Cape Town we head out following the coastal road through super-scenic Chapman's Peak to Cape Point at The Cape of Good Hope. More beautiful coastal riding will take us to Cape Agulhas (the most southerly point in Africa), before we move on to the famous Garden Route, which we will track to its end in the Eastern Cape. A Taste of The Cape – A Bit of Everything

This tour has been designed to offer riders an exciting, off-the-beaten-track adventure around the Cape Peninsula, without breaking the bank. Mountains, coast and desert come at no extra cost and the scenery and riding are spectacular. It also has an epic trail ride, a wildlife/safari element and great eating.

Accommodation is at the budget end of the market, with some venues that we would describe as 'basic'. However, the rooms and facilities are always clean and the locations carefully chosen. If you are looking for upmarket hotels, please choose another tour. If, however, sitting around a camp fire, with a sky full of stars appeals, then this is for you.

Johannesburg to Cape Town – The Slow Way Down

This tour is a great adventure, taking in mountains, coast and desert, with some of South Africa's best roads and most spectacular scenery. It also has a wildlife/safari element and great eating, but above all it's about the ride. Starting in Johannesburg, the tour travels through four of the country's 'must see' and 'must ride' areas: the Drakensberg Mountains, the Garden Route, the Little Karoo and the Cape Peninsula. We will be travelling almost the length of the country, following what for many a long-distance rider has been the final leg of a London to Cape Town epic. Mountains, desert, wildlife and coastal delights, including Cape Town – this tour has the lot.
